‘The Taaras’ is a bespoke Private Beach Residence, tucked away and hidden from the outside world on a small Island found just off the unspoilt East Coast of tropical Malaysia.

Considered to be one of the most beautiful Island locations in the South China Sea, the Isle of Redang is home to our natural, yet stylish resort found on one of the most spectacular bays surrounded by one of the bluest oceans on earth.

The resorts ethos is to provide a contemporary, barefoot luxury experience with warm Asian hospitality, remembered with a smile long into the future. The name of the property is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘TAARA’, meaning ‘Star or Apple of my eye’ as well as ‘Goddess of the Sea’ which are all represented and epitomised by our mermaid figurehead.

One hundred and ninety one stylish suites and rooms, as well as a stunning five bedroom Private Villa perched high up on the cliff overlooking the ocean and resort below. The resort boasts commissioned furniture and bespoke photography of Redang Island and the landscapes of Malaysia. Each suite or room contains oversized beds and hand-picked linens and fabrics for your comfort. Most rooms and all suites have larger washrooms containing both bath tub and separate rain or monsoon shower (some with spa bathtubs looking out over the rainforest or the bay). Most residences have an outdoor balcony or verandah and our suites at the top of the cliff summit have spectacular views over the beach and ocean below. For clients who prefer or require further privacy ‘The Cliff Private Villa Bay & Sea View’, our private five bedroom residence perched high up on the cliff more than meets the requirements; private access, a Villa Host at your ‘beck and call’ as well as twenty four hour security; should it be a necessary requirement. Garden Suite
Each of our Malaysian-style Garden Chalets houses a separate upper and lower level suite. Each suite has been designed to reflect the colours of nature with hand crafted furniture and bespoke artwork. All suites are en suite with rain showers, free-standing bathtub and bidet, as well as flat screen TV’s in both the separate living and bedroom areas. Situated in the premier area of the resort these rooms have unparalleled views of both the resort below, the white talc like beach and also out to the horizon. Only a few steps from the beach with rejuvenating views out onto the bay from the private verandah. Your home away from home whilst on island and completely unique as there is only one of its kind on the resort. This oversized King bedded suite is only a few steps away from the beach and has separate lounge and dining areas as well as private butler pantry complete with Nespresso Coffee Maker and home refrigerator stocked with ‘treats’. The bathroom boasts couples bathtub, oversized rain shower, couples vanity, bidet. There is a walk-in dressing room as well as resting lounge in the bedroom and a large oversized outdoor verandah with resting and dining area overlooking the bay and out to sea. The Taaras Villa
For those who require a larger residential retreat, our private cliff top five bedroom villa overlooks the Island bay and resort below and has sweeping views out to the South China Sea. This private residence is complete with outdoor and indoor lounge areas, sixteen meter infinity swimming pool, home gym, private security office, personal villa host/butler and by arrangement a private Chef. The villa size is over 3000sqm.

Beach Brasserie
Western, Japanese and Indian cuisine served amidst the natural ambience of the beach. Beachside seafood and western grill with Japanese and Indian corners. Whether on the outside deck or a table near the show kitchen, this modern and open space has the best views of both the white sandy beach and ocean beyond. Choose from a collection of Brasserie inspired dishes and firm favourites with a collection of wines to compliment both the surroundings and your palate. 

The Asean All Day Dining
Serves up authentic Malaysian and international specialties. Our Asean All Day Dining/buffet restaurant serving a collection of International as well as Asian and Fusion inspired dishes. Situated in the main resort complex with outside deck overlooking the swimming pool and bay beyond. Eat at any time of the day to suit your style and taste. 

Asean Terrace Lounge
Lounge serving light bites cocktails and drinks accompanied by light background music. Our terrace bar overlooking the pool, serving light bites and finger food as well as three different choices of Afternoon Tea. In the Evening a selection of great cocktails and light background music for pre or post dinner relaxation. This open space is open all day and is where you can both enjoy your sipping cocktail or linger over a Café Latte and decadent afternoon snack until dinner beckons. 

Bayu Bar
Unwind and enjoy cocktails at the open-air beach bar while taking pleasure in the view of the ocean. The bar serves exotic cocktails and light snacks. Serving light ‘beach friendly’ snacks, refreshers and cocktails all day long. Situated right on the beach with sprawling chill out deck to pass the time until sunset and serving great Pizza, Tapas, Meze and other finger foods as well as cool refreshing drinks for your comfort around the beach. 

Experience Dinners
Choose from on water or land and make one of your nights on island magical; eat on a floating pontoon in the middle of the South China Sea, enjoy a Robinson Crusoe experience by being ‘castaway’ with your loved one and a picnic or enjoy a traditional Malay Feast under the stars to name but a few. 

Horizon Club Lounge
Horizon Club is our exclusive lounge located on the hill side and with breathtaking views over the ocean bay. Reserved only for guests residing in Cliff Sea View Premier Suites, Ocean Front Master Suite and the Cliff Villa, the Horizon Club serves breakfast from 7am to 10.30 am. This modern and ultra slick lounge also serves cocktails and snacks from 5pm to 7 pm. Wi Fi is available here.
